Acer announced earlier today the availability on the US market of the V Nitro Black Edition series of high-end notebooks that are “designed for the most demanding power users.” This family of portables will debut with two Acer V15 machines and one Acer V17, all powered by a fourth generation Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M graphics with 2 GB GDDR5.
The Acer V15 starts at $1,099.99 USD (VN7-591G-74LK model to be sold by Newegg starting in mid-October) and has the following highlights, in addition to the above:
- Display: 15.6-inch Full HD
- Memory/Storage: 8 GB DDR3 dual channel RAM; 1 TB hard drive or 128 SSD and 1 TB hard drive ($1,199.99 USD variant, to be introduced by Amazon in November)
- Camera: 720p webcam
- Connectivity: dual band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 3XUSB 3.0, RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI with HDCP support, Bluetooth 4.0, SD card reader
- Weight/Dimensions: 5.29 pounds; 15.34X10.14X0.94 inches
The larger Acer V17 Nitro Black Edition will only be available starting in November via Amazon, Fry’s and Microcenter. It will have a base price of $1,499.99 USD and its features will include a 17.3-inch display, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD and 1 TB hard drive for storage, as well as a 6X Blu-ray drive. This laptop weighs 6.61 pounds and has 16.65X11.54X1 inches.
All Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition laptops mentioned above feature a full-size backlit keyboard with numeric keypad, Dolby audioenhancements, a 3-cell 4605 mAh battery and will ship loaded with Windows 8.1.
